The Conference Program

This year we received more than 60 exceptional session abstracts with topics encompassing: zoning and legal aspects of planning, driverless cars and transportation project financing, land conservation and planning for natural disasters, revitalization of aging infrastructure and neighborhoods, planning for utilities, local & regional economics, public engagement and drafting community plans. The APA Virginia Chapter would like to thank everyone who submitted session abstracts; the depth of topics and quality of the proposals and speakers exceed our expectations.

While our Conference Planning Committee continues to refine and finalize the Conference Program, we hope to offer a glimpse of the great programming we will be offering under the theme of “future communities.”

Sunday July 16 is all about planning leadership and leading by example, activities include:

Finally, on Wednesday July 19, we focus on who we are as planners and how can we be better advocates in a changing Virginia. Sessions include:

  • 2017 Ethics Plenary

  • Planning for Inclusion Plenary hosted by the Chapter’s Ethnic & Cultural Diversity Committee (ECDC)

  • Virginia Population & Demographics Plenary
